It’s no secret that maximizing air preheater thermal performance can easily be achieved by preventing the losses associated with air and gas flow bypassing the heat transfer surface. At LJUNGSTRÖM we take this method further with the latest in our line-up of engineered basket designs, the Thermal Guard™ Basket.

Designed specifically for use in vertical air preheaters, Thermal Guard™ Baskets offer a fully enclosed basket design, which houses the heating element within the baskets. This ensures that air and gas flows remain contained throughout the basket depth and provides the optimum packaging of hot and intermediate element layers.

This innovation is not new and has been used for many years on our heavier duty fully enclosed cold end baskets, but LJUNGSTRÖM can now offer the benefits of side shells in a lightweight assembly ideally suited for hot and intermediate applications.

To most effectively minimize flow bypass, use our fully enclosed baskets in conjunction with LJUNGSTRÖM’s bypass seals designed to prevent air and gas flows from bypassing around the outsides of the baskets.
